Lent Retreat in Daily Living – Week 2

This is the second week of the Lenten Retreat in Daily Living I’m giving at UST and at St. Hubert’s. During this past week, the prayer focused on getting in touch with God’s love for us and desires for us during this retreat as well as on our own desires. This week, the prayer moves into Week 1 of the Spiritual Exercises, which focues on sin. During the session, which began (as each of our sessions do) with a period during which the participants engage in small group sharing of their prayer experience during the prior week, I gave a talk briefly addressing certain dynamics of Ignatian prayer and then giving instruction in praying a daily examen, a prayer that is a useful addition to everyone’s daily prayer, but that is particularly recommended by St. Ignatius during Week 1 of the Exercises. Toward the end, I also speak a little about the prayer material for the upcoming week.

You can find the recording of the talk I gave this week at St. Thomas here. (The podcast runs for 19:41.) You can find here a copy of the prayer material for the second week of the retreat, as well as a couple of other handouts I distributed (which I refer to during the talk).
