Advent Retreat in Daily Living (Part 2)

This is the second week of the Advent Retreat in Daily Living I’m giving at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Last week, our prayer focused on the prophets of Advent and the prophets in our lives. This week the retreat prayer focuses on the long Advent prior to the birth of Jesus. The talk I gave at our session together addressed the geneology that begins the Gospel of St. Matthew, which the retreatants will pray with during the third day of prayer this week. The theologian Raymond Brown, from whose work I draw for this talk, says that this passage itself contains the essential theology of the Old and New Testaments.

You can find the talk here . The prayer material for this second week of the retreat, which I give some explanation of during the latter part of the talk, can be found here.
