Generally it is coincidence. According to some sources Vincent de Paul was born on April 24. It is a kind of blessing to be buried on the day the Holy Founder was born.
When I read some text about Fr Ken yesterday, I was touched by his words about saying mass at Belmont Park racing track: Why can't I say Mass in the stable, as Lord Jesus was born in the stable as well. Sometimes philosophers have very simple way to express certain truth.
Today, I attending the funeral of humble Vincentian priest in Krakow. Of 53 years of his priesthood he spent 31 in one parish working in various ministries. For last 18 years he was chaplain in the nearby Government Administration Hospital. He serve sick people even when his battle with cancer retarded his activity.
And I got a reflection: often people gather in two occasion - when someone comes to this world (or is baptized) and when someone leaves this world. People go, but their words, their notes, their gifts remain. And our memory remains. If we can use this heritage our deceased leave us, that's good. But if we cannot use this heritage, our sorrows and tears are useless.
Let us hurry to love people, because they pass so fast - a reverend poet said...
